Meditate on Psalm 42. As the life of a deer depends on water, so our lives depend upon God. The psalmist felt separated from God and wouldn’t rest until he restored his relationship; he knew his life depended on it.

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”
